IN PARIS,  art never sleeps

October and November in Paris really are the monthes of contemporary art. On 6 October, the Nuit Blanche returns for an all night display of contemporary art in original venues - churches, museums and even the banks of the Seine. Another of this month’s highlights is “contemporary art week”, which kicks off with FIAC, the city’s prestigious art fair at the Grand Palais. This international event attracts the art world’s biggest guns, including gallery owners, French and international collectors and artists along with art fans and overall nearly 70,000 visitors. You can also see a selection of contemporary works in the Jardin des Tuileries, the Musée national Eugène-Delacroix and at the place Vendôme as part of Fiac’s off programme. Other off fairs scattered across the capital include YIA Art Fair, which celebrates the arts in all its guises, alongside more specialist events including design and art at Art Elysées, digital art at Variation Media Fair, outsider art at Outsider Art Fair and urban art at 8e avenue. There’s something to suit all tastes! In November, photo buffs should head to international fine art photography fair Paris Photo. This must-do event attracts nearly 60,000 visitors every year. The 22nd Paris Photo will be held at the Grand Palais.

PARIS

As the days shorten and autumn heralds winter, the Nuit Blanche event in Paris invites you to see the city in a different way, at night, lit by moonlight, neons and other lights.
On the first Saturday in October, in all parts of the city, artists will be proposing installations, exhibitions, concerts performances, trails, staged scene sets and creations that explore all facets of contemporary art and offer a new view of the city.
Public transport stays open all night so that spectators can design their own route among the dozens of avant-garde projects of international artists. The Nuit Blanche was first organized in 2002, and, like the Fête de la Musique, it has spread around the world to other cities in France and other European capitals, a proof of its popularity and relevance today.

FIAC, International Contemporary Art Fair
From 18 October 2018 to 21 October 2018
PARIS

For several days each year, Paris becomes the world capital of contemporary art with the FIAC, the International Contemporary Art Fair. A veritable institution recognized worldwide, the FIAC is an opportunity for the public to discover the latest developments in contemporary art, through works by some of the most famous artists in the world.

In total, some 1,500 artists show their work for the 75,000 spectators to see in the aisles of the Grand Palais, the Petit Palais, the Tuileries Gardens, the Musée Eugène Delacroix and Place Vendôme.

The FIAC is also the occasion for an artist residing in France, or of French origin, to be awarded the prestigious Marcel Duchamp Prize, which brings with it international recognition. Like all fairs, the FIAC is also a marketplace where the works of art change hands and professionals meet. Each year, there is much speculation in the press about the price of various works of art, which contributes to establishing the legitimacy of the artists.

Sophie - Lifestyle

Bonjour, my name is Sophie. I live in the heart of Paris. I’ve always loved to travel and, over the years, I developed it into a real art: the right addresses, the suitcase, how to manage fatigue with my Parisian look! From Cannes to Antigua, from the red carpet to Pilates, I have to live up to the reputation. I have small apartments in Paris that I rent out. I love to personally welcome my guests and give them some recommendations about life in Paris “living like a true Parisian and not like a simple tourist in an elegant private suit in the heart of the city”.
