The Musée des Arts décoratif pays hommage to the shoe, in all its forms, in an exhibition titled 'Marche et démarches', a history of the shoe. What is the status of the shoe? How do we walk in the West and elsewhere? This fascinating exhibition attempts to answer these questions over a period ranging from the Middle Ages to the present day. From the Marche-et-demarches-une-histoire-de-la-chaussure--630x405--Demergence of the notion of  shoes to walk in, at the end of the 19th century, to the cult of the small foot in China and Europe, as well as shoes for sport, dance, military marching, and magic shoes, this exhibition is full of surprises.

Joris-Karl Huysmans art critic. From Degas to Grünewald

Exhibition from 03 December 2019 to 02 March 2020

Musée d'Orsay - 1 rue de la Légion d'Honneur, Paris

The Musée d’Orsay is raising the curtain on a little-known figure: Joris-Karl Huysmans, a 19th century writer and art critic. Somewhat shunned in his day because his style didn't fit neatly into any pre-existing category, an example being his novel À Rebours, he has faded into obscurity over the years. But this exhibition shows the leading role of this unconventional man in the world of art, and how he navigated the various artistic currents of the late 19th century, from Degas to Grünewald.

Maxime - Art & Culture

Bonjour, my name is Maxime. I obtained my name because my grandmother always took me to Maxime’s in Paris for my birthday, always in the company of her best girlfriend! When I was fourteen years old, I was already enamoured with their Parisian chatter. Now, when with friends, I know everything about the art of invisible make-up and light cocktails! The Parisian really has a very distinct character: she’s surprising and interesting. And she’s so feminine! As for invitations, it a real task: each day Paris offers new exhibitions, previews and vernissages. With a Parisian, you absolutely have to be in the right place at the right time!
