Located on the Croisette, facing the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès and near the old port, Le Majestic Cannes bewitches with its breathtaking view of the Mediterranean. A sumptuous show in the image of this exceptional address.
As a pied-à-terre of the greatest stars, Le Majestic is the privileged partner of the Cannes Film Festival. Acclaimed by 8,000 film lovers each year, it perpetuates the love of the 7th art all year round in its privatizable screening room. On the wall, in the corridor, photos: Robert de Niro, Tim Robbins, Nicolas Cage, Kristin Scott Thomas.
"During the Film Festival, the hotel changes its appearance, many suites are being refurbished to offer a more simple, zen decoration, like the Dior suite. Others are setting up a make-up room, an interview room... Not to mention the offices and showrooms of partners and sponsors who are also located within the premises," says the housekeeper.
The Majestic is a cocoon, the stars are at home and the atmosphere is quite exceptional. Actors, producers, directors meet in the corridors, and occasionally meet at the bar to prolong the conversation. The famous reception lounge is a pretty meeting place where you can display yourself. The acme being at the time of the ascent of the stairs. Models, showbiz stars, movie stars. Bodyguards (from one to three depending on the star) alert. Journalists, photographers, discreetly channeled. Red, sequined, golden, black, the parade of these magnificent (and therefore well ironed) dresses is impressive.

Since 2011, Hotel Majestic has had a small, very luxurious small theatre !
The Cinematheque Diane, a state-of-the-art screening room that opened in 2011, bills itself on the hotel's website as a place where guests can borrow DVDs. But for 12 days in May it becomes an ultra-private hotspot.
Designed by Chantal Peyrat, the French interior decorator who has a long history with Majestic owner Barriere hotels, the 35-seat Cinematheque Diane features massive
velvet wing chairs (with individual leather ottomans), each row outfitted with slightly taller legs than the one before so no view is obstructed. The central armchair, covered in gilded leather, is reserved for the guest of honor, and the custom carpet is decorated with film titles and quotes from Palme d'Or winners spanning 1946 to 2011.
The room is open to anyone to rent (at 4,500 euros, or about $5,000 for two hours), but you'll likely need an inside connection at the hotel to reserve it during peak festival dates.
Histoire
Originally, it was the result of the merger of the parcels of the former Beau-Rivage hotel and two neighbouring villas. Construction of the building began in 1923 under the direction of architect Théo Petit, who was also the architect of the Normandy Hotel in Deauville. He designed an art deco project with a main facade and 2 wings in return.
During the Second World War, the Majestic was in the free zone (or southern zone) only from the armistice from June 22, 1940 to November 11, 1942, when Cannes was occupied by Italian forces, which were brutally replaced in 1943 by the German occupation forces until the liberation of Cannes in 1944.
Then, in 1945, it was requisitioned by the provisional government of the French Republic, presided over by General Charles de Gaulle, to be transformed into a military hospital.
In 1965, the building was raised by 2 floors in the attic. In 1990, the facades were standardized in the original Art Deco style and 9 years later, the hotel was expanded with 40 new rooms. In 2001, the Cannes version of the famous Paris Fouquet's restaurant was installed in the Majestic Hotel. Then, in 2008, renovation work began on the hotel and the extension project. Two years later, the new wing was inaugurated and Nicole's new restaurant La Petite Maison and the U Spa Barrière were opened. In 2013, the latter became "Spa My Blend by Clarins".
