Parisian welcome winter with Beaujolais

A great many people think that winter is synonymous with melancholy. The season ends the euphoria and softness of autumn and gives way to grey skies and somber landscapes. However, the Parisian sees things in a different light: she equates winter with the return of wonderful Parisian evenings, elegant vernissages and Beaujolais launchings. Whether on Avenue Montaigne, the top of the Eiffel Tower or in Montmartre, there’s no lack of wine-tasting evenings… This year, Beaujolais will be available on Thursday, November 20. Where should I take Caroline, my epicurean, fashion-conscious fiancée?

The GARDE ROBE popped into my mind. It’s close to the old Samaritaine department store. I’ll surprise her by having her taste some « biodynamic » wines, the current trend, accompanied by several oysters that just arrived from Oléron Island! As for Chantal, a little snobbish, she loves to tell her friends that she found a new and really authentic place. I’m thinking of taking her Au Rendez-vous des Amis in Montmartre for a wine-tasting evening on the terrace. Yes, in November, around small wrought iron mosaic tables, there’s a real village feeling. A board with cheese or cold cuts -- that’s all that’s needed!
Bonne soirée! Maxime

Maxime - Art & Culture

Bonjour, my name is Maxime. I obtained my name because my grandmother always took me to Maxime’s in Paris for my birthday, always in the company of her best girlfriend! When I was fourteen years old, I was already enamoured with their Parisian chatter. Now, when with friends, I know everything about the art of invisible make-up and light cocktails! The Parisian really has a very distinct character: she’s surprising and interesting. And she’s so feminine! As for invitations, it a real task: each day Paris offers new exhibitions, previews and vernissages. With a Parisian, you absolutely have to be in the right place at the right time!
